Activating Task users

Activating Task users

Being in KAMI does not put someone in KAMI Tasks. Task access is granted separately, in your main KAMI account — which is why the KAMI Tasks Users page is read-only and why new joiners so often cannot find Tasks at all.

Where: My Teams › Profile › Access settings — not inside KAMI Tasks You need: the rights to manage employee access

The thing that confuses everyone

KAMI Tasks has a Users page, and it cannot add users. It lists who has access and reflects what your main KAMI account decides.

That is deliberate: one place decides who is in the company, and Tasks inherits it. But it means the natural first move — going to Tasks › Users to add someone — leads nowhere, and the page does not explain why.

Change their role within a teamThe group's member roles

How to grant access

Open the employee in My Teams, go to their Access settings, and enable Tasks access. They then appear in the Tasks Users list.

Access to projects is a second step and works differently — projects grant access to groups, never to individuals, so a person with Tasks access and no group membership can log in and see nothing. See Users and groups and Projects and access.

What Happens Next

  • The employee appears in the Tasks Users list.
  • They still see no work until they are in a group with project access. Both steps are needed, and doing only the first is the most common way someone is "given access" and still cannot use it.
  • Once in a group, every project that group can reach becomes available to them immediately.

Tips

  • Do both steps at once. Granting Tasks access without group membership produces a user who logs in to an empty product and concludes it is broken.
  • Add to groups as part of onboarding, not on request. Access granted ad hoc is granted inconsistently, and nobody audits it afterwards.
  • Check the Users list after an intake. People missing from it never had step one done.
  • Remember module activation. If Tasks is not activated for your company at all, no amount of per-person access will help — see Module activation and two-factor authentication.

Troubleshooting / FAQ

Q: A new employee is not in the Tasks Users list. They have not been given Tasks access in My Teams. The Tasks page only reflects that.

Q: They are in the list but see no projects. They are not in a group that has project access. Access to projects comes through groups.

Q: Nobody in the company can see Tasks. Check the module is activated for your company.
